How Can I Find Cheap Flights to Vanuatu and Samoa in 2026?

Short answer. From Australia in 2026, find cheap flights to Vanuatu by searching a whole month of fares to Port Vila, comparing direct flights with connections, and checking the same flight on Trip.com, Virgin Australia and Skyscanner. Several airlines serve Port Vila, so there is real choice. For Samoa, compare any direct flights from Sydney or Brisbane with connections through Auckland. Save on your trip by booking flights, hotels and activities through ShopBack.

Sources. Vanuatu's official tourism site, the Samoa Tourism Authority's site and Virgin Australia's Port Vila, specials and fare pages, at the time of writing in October 2026. We don't list fares, because they change by the hour; use the steps below on the day you book.

The verdict

Cheap Pacific fares come from flexible dates, the right fare type and comparing the same flight in more than one place. Then go through ShopBack before you book, so the price you pay is lower once the cash comes back.

1. Search a month, not a day. Use the month or calendar view on an airline or booking site.
2. Compare direct and connecting options. A connection can be cheaper, but count the extra time and any overnight stay.
3. Match the fare to your bags. Lite fares on Virgin Australia's international short haul flights don't include a checked bag.
4. Check the same flight in two or three places. Airline site, Trip.com and Skyscanner.
5. Price a package. For a week in Port Vila, a flight and hotel package can beat booking separately.
6. Before you pay, open ShopBack, tap the site, then book.

How can I find cheap flights to Vanuatu?

Cheap flights to Vanuatu usually come from searching a full month, travelling outside school holidays and comparing several airlines to Port Vila. According to Vanuatu's official tourism site:

• Main airport. Most international visitors arrive at Bauerfield International Airport on Efate, a short drive from Port Vila.
• Second airport. Some flights also serve Pekoa Airport on Santo, near Luganville.
• Airlines. Airlines serving Port Vila include Virgin Australia, Solomon Airlines, Fiji Airways and Aircalin, though routes change, so check current schedules when you book.

Where Virgin Australia flies from. Virgin Australia's Port Vila page shows fares from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Newcastle and many other Australian cities, and notes that some fares may be for connecting flights with a stopover. If you live away from the east coast, compare the connecting total against flying to the east coast on a cheap domestic fare and booking the international leg separately.

• School holidays and Christmas. Family travel pushes fares up; weeks just outside the holidays are often cheaper.

How do I find cheap flights to Samoa from Australia?

To find cheap flights to Samoa from Australia, compare any direct flights from Sydney or Brisbane with connections through Auckland, using a flexible date search on a booking site such as Trip.com or a comparison site such as Skyscanner. The Samoa Tourism Authority says Samoa is about five hours from Sydney and Brisbane and less than four hours from Auckland.

Practical steps for Samoa:

• Search Apia (APW). The Samoa Tourism Authority says the main air entry point is Faleolo International Airport, 35km from Apia on the island of Upolu, so count the transfer into town.
• Compare direct with a connection. A connection through Auckland can open up more flight times and sometimes lower fares; count the layover time.
• Check the airline's own site. Virgin Australia has included Samoa (Apia) in past fare promotions; check its site for current flights and schedules.
• Watch the bag allowance. Different airlines on a connecting trip can have different allowances, so check each leg.
• Book through ShopBack. ShopBack lowers the effective price of flights, hotels and online orders after you pay.

Packages or flights only: which is cheaper for Vanuatu?

For a week in Port Vila, a flight and hotel package can be cheaper than booking separately, but only a side-by-side price check will tell you. Virgin Australia sells Vanuatu holiday packages that bundle flights and accommodation.

Here is a worked example with illustrative prices (not real quotes):

Option	Illustrative total for two people, 7 nights
Return flights booked separately	$1,300
Resort booked separately	$1,500
Separate total	$2,800
Package with the same flights and resort	$2,650

In this example the package saves $150. If the package didn't include the bags you need, or the resort you want, the separate booking could win.
