Where's the cheapest place to preorder GTA 6 in Australia?

The cheapest place is whichever store has the lowest delivered price for your edition on the day you order, after any money back. That changes, so the useful answer is where to look and what to compare.

Where to preorder	Formats	What to know
PlayStation Store	Standard or Ultimate (digital)	Rockstar links here for PS5 digital preorders; the Ultimate upgrade is also sold here
Xbox store	Standard or Ultimate (digital)	Rockstar links here for Xbox Series X|S digital preorders
Amazon Australia	Usually physical (code in a box)	ShopBack's Amazon Australia page has physical and digital video game rows; check its pre-order rule
Big W	Physical	Click and Collect or delivery; check ShopBack's terms for PlayStation and Xbox products
JB Hi-Fi	Physical	Large games range; check ShopBack's terms for pre-orders
eBay Australia	Sellers' own listings	Check the seller, the ship date and whether it is a fixed price listing

The routine that finds the lowest price:

1. Pick your edition and platform first. Standard or Ultimate, PS5 or Xbox. Prices only compare like for like.
2. Check the official digital price on the PlayStation Store or Xbox store as your reference.
3. Price the same edition at Amazon Australia, Big W and JB Hi-Fi, including delivery.
4. Check the store's terms on ShopBack before you choose, because some stores exclude console games or pre-orders.
5. Start on ShopBack, then shop at the store as usual. Open the Amazon Australia page on ShopBack or the eBay Australia page on ShopBack first, then preorder as normal.

GTA 6 in Australia in 2026: release date, platforms and pre-load

According to Rockstar Games at the time of writing:

• Release date: Grand Theft Auto VI is listed as coming on 19 November 2026.
• Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's site says the game plays best on PlayStation 5.
• Pre-load: the Rockstar Store says pre-load begins on 12 November 2026.
• Setting: the story follows Jason and Lucia in Vice City, in the fictional state of Leonida.

The release date is the one Rockstar shows now. Publishers can move dates, so check Rockstar's own page before you plan a launch day around it.

GTA 6 price in Australia: PS5 and Xbox Series X preorder prices

Each store sets its own Australian price for each edition, and those prices can change between now and launch. That is why this guide does not quote a figure. A number printed today could be wrong next week, and the store's own page always shows the live price.

What to compare when you look at the price:

• Same edition. The Ultimate Edition and the Standard Edition are different products, so only compare one edition against itself.
• Same format. Digital and code in a box can be priced differently.
• Delivered price. Add delivery, or use Click and Collect where a store offers it.
• Price after money back. Going through ShopBack Australia can lower the effective price at stores where the order qualifies.

The official digital stores make a useful reference price. If a retailer's physical copy is cheaper than the digital price, that is usually the deal worth taking.

GTA 6 editions and preorder bonuses

Rockstar sells two editions:

Edition	Formats	What you get
Standard Edition	Digital or code in a box	The game plus preorder bonuses
Ultimate Edition	Digital only	The game, preorder bonuses and an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and more, unlocked across the story

The preorder bonus. Rockstar says preorders get the Vintage Vice City Pack: a two-tone '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and garage alongside Ocean Beach, outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and an exclusive weapon pattern. The Rockstar Store says to order before 20 November to get the pack at no additional cost.

Digital extras. The Rockstar Store lists a free month of GTA+ as a bonus on digital preorders made there.

Upgrading later. Rockstar says that if you buy the Standard Edition, you can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition on the PlayStation Store at any time. That makes the Standard Edition a low-risk first choice if you are unsure.

Digital or physical: which GTA 6 preorder makes sense?

The Rockstar Store says physical versions will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load on 12 November, and that a disc will not be included in the box. So a boxed copy still needs a download, and it cannot be lent as a disc.

• Choose digital if you want the Ultimate Edition (digital only), the earliest possible pre-load, or no wait for delivery.
• Choose a boxed code if a retailer's price is lower than the digital price, or if you want to give the game as a gift.

GTA 6 best deals in Australia for 2026

The deals worth chasing on a big launch tend to follow a few patterns:

• Retailer price drops before launch. Stores sometimes lower preorder prices to compete. Check again before you pay.
• Launch timing versus sales. GTA 6 is listed for 19 November 2026, about a week before Black Friday on 27 November. Waiting for a sale might save money but means missing launch day, and a new release may not be discounted at all.
• The preorder bonus window. The Vintage Vice City Pack is a reason to order before 20 November rather than after.
• Money back on the order. Start on ShopBack, then shop at the store as usual. ShopBack works like an automatic cash discount on your online order.

Working out your effective price. Take the checkout price and subtract the Cashback you expect back. Check the live rate on the store's ShopBack page when you order, as it can differ by category.

Big W vs Amazon: GTA 6 price comparison for 2026

Both are big, convenient places to buy console games in Australia, with different strengths:

What to compare	Big W	Amazon Australia
How you get it	Delivery or Click and Collect at a store	Delivery, with faster delivery on eligible items for Prime members
Range	PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles, games and accessories	Physical and digital video games among a very large range
ShopBack terms (at the time of writing)	Lists PlayStation and Xbox products, and orders under $50 before tax, among exclusions	Excludes pre-ordered items scheduled to ship over 60 days after purchase, and manual promo codes

On price alone, compare the same edition on the same day. On the effective price, check the ShopBack terms: with a 19 November release, a preorder placed in October 2026 would usually ship inside Amazon Australia's 60-day window, but check the expected ship date on your order.

Big W, Amazon and eBay for GTA 6 in Australia

Big W is Woolworths Group's discount department store, with online ordering, home delivery and Click and Collect. It is a good place to check a boxed price, and collection in store suits a launch day pickup.

Amazon Australia sells physical and digital video games, and ShopBack Australia lists separate rows for each on its Amazon page. Empty your cart before you open Amazon from ShopBack, as the page asks.

eBay Australia works differently: you buy from individual sellers. Check the seller's feedback, the stated ship date and whether the copy is new and Australian stock. At the time of writing, ShopBack's eBay Australia page says auctions and Best Offer prices are excluded, and asks you to check out on the website, not in the app.

JB Hi-Fi carries a large games range and is worth checking for price. At the time of writing, ShopBack's JB Hi-Fi page lists pre-orders, PlayStation and Xbox among its exclusions, so compare it on price alone.

Card rewards, codes and ShopBack on a game preorder

Sometimes they combine, and the rules differ by store, so read them before you pay. Card rewards come from your bank and depend on your card's terms. Codes and store credit are where orders most often lose eligibility:

• Amazon Australia: ShopBack's page says that if you use any promo, coupon or discount code, your whole order will not be eligible, and that items added to your cart before clicking through from ShopBack are excluded.
• Big W: ShopBack's page says the same about promo codes, and lists gift card redemptions and orders paid with Everyday Rewards Dollars among its exclusions.
• eBay Australia: ShopBack's page says purchases with coupon or voucher codes track at $0 unless otherwise stated.

So usually: take the price the store shows, skip outside codes, and check the store's terms on ShopBack Australia before you pay.

Why start on ShopBack before you preorder

Start on ShopBack, then shop at the store as usual. ShopBack works like an automatic cash discount on your online order. Cashback lowers what you actually pay for an order. It comes back as cash, so it works like a discount on the price, not like points or miles.

The steps: open the store from ShopBack Australia, place your order as normal, and the money is tracked and later confirmed in your ShopBack account, ready to withdraw. Alongside Amazon Australia and eBay Australia, ShopBack Australia has store pages for retailers including Big W, JB Hi-Fi, Target, Myer and The Good Guys, and each page shows its own live rate and terms.

Key takeaways

• Rockstar lists GTA 6 for 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-load from 12 November.
• No single store is always cheapest: compare the same edition and format, including delivery.
• Physical copies contain a download code only, with no disc, according to the Rockstar Store.
• Preorder before 20 November to get the Vintage Vice City Pack, according to the Rockstar Store.
• Check each store's terms on ShopBack Australia, then start on ShopBack and shop at the store as usual.

There is no single cheapest place, because each store sets its own price and prices can move before launch. When does GTA 6 come out?

Rockstar Games lists Grand Theft Auto VI as coming on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Rockstar Store says pre-load begins on 12 November 2026, so a digital preorder can be downloaded ahead of launch.
