NRL Grand Final 2026 Hosting: Jerseys, TVs, Streaming Timing

The Accor Stadium gates open at 4pm on Sunday 4 October 2026, and by then a hosting household has either nailed the shopping sequence across the previous seven weeks or is paying tourist prices at the Coles express on Grand Final Sunday morning. NRL Grand Final week in Australia is a specific retail moment: TVs are between their EOFY clearance and their Black Friday lows, Weber spring stock is cycling at Bunnings and Barbeques Galore, Dan Murphy's, BWS, and Woolworths Liquor are all discounting slabs into the same seven-day window, and NRL Shop, Fanatics AU, and the club team stores are running their post-finals jersey pushes. The households that host well are the ones treating the 52 days from mid-August to kick-off as three distinct buying weeks, not one panicked Sunday morning at the shops.

This is the shopping-timing playbook for the 2026 NRL Grand Final hosting household. It covers the TV upgrade, the team jersey and merch mix, the streaming stack (Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Nine free-to-air, NRL.com Premium, Stan Sport), the BBQ and slab week, party staples at Coles and Woolworths, match ticket tiers on Ticketek, and a two-week hosting timeline you can copy from Monday 21 September to kick-off.

Verdict: what to buy and when

• TVs: Buy between Saturday 12 September and Thursday 25 September at JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, or Harvey Norman. Mid-range 55 to 75 inch LED and QLED sit within 5 to 8% of their Black Friday floor in this window, and delivery plus install completes before Sunday 4 October.
• Team jersey: NRL Shop and the club team store for current-season replica or the Grand Final commemorative jersey. Fanatics AU, ISC Sport, Champion Sport, and Amazon AU for last-season and value tier. eBay AU for bulk fan scarves and caps.
• Streaming: Nine and 9Now carry the Grand Final live and free nationally. Kayo Sports is the value pick for a full-season NRL fan at AUD 25 to 45 per month. Foxtel's iQ tier is worth it only if you already have Foxtel for other content.
• BBQ or outdoor cooking: Weber Q, Baby Q, and Family Q at Bunnings or Barbeques Galore hit their spring launch pricing 12 to 25 September. Beefeater Signature 3000S at Barbeques Galore in the same window.
• Beer slabs: Compare Dan Murphy's, BWS, and Woolworths Liquor during Grand Final week (Monday 28 September to Sunday 4 October). Slabs of XXXX Gold, Great Northern, and Carlton Draught typically drop AUD 3 to 6 off the August baseline that week.
• Chips, dips, sausages, buns: Coles and Woolworths run finals-themed multi-buys the Tuesday to Thursday before Grand Final Sunday (30 September to 2 October). That is the buying window.
• Match tickets: Ticketek on the Monday after Preliminary Finals (28 September). NRL Members get priority access 24 to 48 hours earlier. Check ShopBack during the sale preview window to line up cashback stacking on top of the retailer discount.

All ranges are as of August 2026, based on advertised pricing at the merchants named and previous September and October pricing cycles. Grand Final week-of pricing has historically landed at or below the low end of each range.

The TV decision: mid-to-late September is the correct window

The TV question is the largest single line item in the hosting budget and the one most commonly mis-timed. The instinct is to wait for Black Friday. For a household hosting the 2026 NRL Grand Final on Sunday 4 October, that instinct costs you the TV.

The Australian TV retail calendar has four spikes: EOFY (late June, clearance of the previous year's stock), Grand Final adjacent (mid-September through early October, new-model release plus last-year mark-down), Black Friday (late November, deepest discounts of the year on premium), and Boxing Day (26 December, clearance again on stock the retailer wants to move before end of financial reporting).

Mid-to-late September sits at the intersection of two moves. The 2026 line-up from Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, and Hisense has landed on the floor by early September. Retailers need to clear 2025 units to make room, and the 55 to 75 inch mid-range LED and QLED tier (which is what most households actually buy) hits its second-lowest point of the year. For the 65 inch mid-range Samsung, Hisense, and TCL sets that anchor most Grand Final parties, September pricing is typically within 5 to 8% of the November Black Friday floor. For premium OLED (LG C-series, Sony Bravia XR), Black Friday still wins by 8 to 15%, so if your Grand Final hosting is really a stalking horse for buying a top-end OLED, wait.

NRL households add one extra scheduling constraint versus AFL. The AFL Grand Final on Saturday 26 September sits one week earlier than the NRL Grand Final on Sunday 4 October, which means the peak of the mid-September TV discount cycle is timed to the AFL event, and the NRL household gets one extra weekend of runway. Buying in the week of 26 September to 2 October catches the tail of the AFL Grand Final adjacent promotion, when retailers still want to move floor stock and negotiation is easiest.

For a Sydney apartment living room hosting six mates: 55 inch at 3m viewing distance is enough, and JB Hi-Fi mid-September pricing on Hisense or TCL runs AUD 600 to 900. For a suburban Brisbane lounge with 10 to 12 guests at 4 to 5m: 65 to 75 inch is the target, AUD 1,100 to 2,000 across JB Hi-Fi, Good Guys, and Harvey Norman. For a Newcastle or Central Coast backyard with 15+ mates outside: 75 inch mid-range plus a Furrion Aurora outdoor mount, or a portable Anker Nebula Capsule 3 projector onto a hung sheet, is a better answer than dragging the lounge TV outside for a night match.

JB Hi-Fi vs The Good Guys vs Harvey Norman: who wins on what

The three big electronics chains overlap heavily on TV inventory. The differences are in pricing behaviour, delivery, and floor negotiation.

JB Hi-Fi typically leads on advertised sticker for popular Samsung, TCL, and Hisense 55 to 75 inch sets. Their marketing catalogue runs both an AFL and an NRL Grand Final adjacent promotion most years, and the online sticker is what price-comparison sites index against. JB Hi-Fi's install and delivery is charged separately for large sets. Best used as the sticker anchor.

The Good Guys wins on bundled pricing when you need delivery, install, and old-TV takeaway on a 75 inch or larger. Their Concierge bundle typically saves AUD 100 to 250 versus buying delivery add-ons separately, and Good Guys stores tend to have showroom stock available same-week for popular sizes. If you want the TV wall-mounted before Sunday 4 October, Good Guys is the pragmatic call.

Harvey Norman is the strongest negotiator on floor. Their franchise model gives store managers real discretion to knock 3 to 8% off the sticker if you walk in with a competitor screenshot on a weekday afternoon. They will also throw in soundbars, cables, or wall-mount hardware at cost to close a large sale. If you are buying a 75 inch or 85 inch and have time to shop in person, Harvey Norman is worth the visit.

Amazon Australia is the wildcard. On specific Hisense and TCL models Amazon AU pricing can undercut all three by 5 to 12%, particularly if the item ships from an Amazon warehouse (not third-party fulfilment). Delivery on large TVs from Amazon AU is slower and less reliable than from a physical retailer, and returns for a 65 inch or larger are painful. Best used to anchor your ceiling price, not as the primary purchase channel for a Grand Final deadline.

The jersey decision: NRL Shop, Fanatics AU, ISC Sport, Champion Sport, Amazon AU

Jerseys are the emotional core of NRL Grand Final week. They are also the category with the largest per-item price variance across channels, so where you buy matters more than for any other line item.

NRL Shop (shop.nrl.com) is the league-run retailer, operated in partnership with Fanatics. Full licensed range across all 17 clubs, authenticity guaranteed, and standard pricing on current-season replica jerseys (AUD 130 to 180 for adult sizes, AUD 90 to 130 for junior). NRL Shop runs finals-week promotions on limited items but current-season replicas stay at recommended retail through Grand Final week. NRL Shop is also the exclusive channel for the Grand Final commemorative jerseys (the specific 4 October 2026 match-day designs for the two finalist clubs), which drop on the Monday after Preliminary Finals and sell out within days.

Club team stores (Panthers Team Store, Broncos Team Store, Storm Superstore, and equivalents for each of the 17 clubs) match NRL Shop on core inventory and occasionally undercut on club-exclusive limited runs (throwback jerseys, coach-signed items, junior sizes). If you support one of the grand finalists and know which two clubs by the Monday of Grand Final week, going direct to the club store often gets you access to the specific commemorative Grand Final release, which NRL Shop carries a subset of.

Fanatics AU (fanatics.com.au) is the licensed value channel. Current-season replicas match NRL Shop pricing, but last-season and end-of-line jerseys run 20 to 40% below NRL Shop (AUD 80 to 120 for a 2025 season jersey versus AUD 130 to 180 current season). Fanatics AU also carries the NFL, NBA, and international rugby range in one basket, which matters for households that want to bundle a Panthers jersey with a Broncos scarf for a mixed-loyalty hosting group.

ISC Sport (iscsport.com) is the on-field manufacturer for several NRL clubs (Panthers, Sharks, and others cycle through ISC contracts across seasons). Buying direct from ISC gets you the exact jersey the players wear on match day, at recommended retail matching NRL Shop, plus occasional ISC-direct promotions on ex-season stock that neither NRL Shop nor Fanatics AU carries.

Champion Sport manufactures for a different subset of NRL clubs on the current cycle. Same dynamic as ISC: on-field authenticity, RRP matching, and a smaller but sharper clearance section for last-season stock.

Amazon AU carries a subset of the NRL licensed range through Fanatics-fulfilled and third-party listings. Pricing is usually parity with Fanatics AU on current-season, and occasionally undercuts on last-season by 10 to 20%. Amazon AU shipping to metro is faster than Fanatics AU direct, which matters if the jersey purchase slips to the final week.

eBay AU is the deep-value channel. Last-season replica jerseys run AUD 60 to 100 on eBay AU versus AUD 130 to 180 current season at NRL Shop. Bulk fan scarves and caps in 10-packs for a hosting party run AUD 80 to 150 on eBay AU versus AUD 200 to 350 at official channels. The trade-off is authenticity risk on high-value items: a current-season 2026 Grand Final jersey listed at AUD 60 on eBay AU is not real. Cap the eBay spend at last-season replicas and fan-tier accessories.

For a hosting party of 12 to 16 people where you want everyone in some team colour, the pragmatic mix is fan scarves and caps in bulk from eBay AU (AUD 100 to 180 for the whole crew), your own current-season replica from NRL Shop or the club team store, and a last-season replica or two from Fanatics AU or ISC Sport clearance for household members who want the jersey but not at full RRP.

Jersey timing: new-season drops versus mid-season versus finals week

NRL jerseys follow a predictable annual cycle. New-season 2027 jerseys drop across NRL Shop, Fanatics AU, and club team stores in mid to late October 2026, once the Grand Final and post-season cycle closes. That is when the 2026 season jerseys officially become last-season and shift into clearance at 25 to 45% off.

Mid-season (June to August) sees limited discounting: heritage round jerseys, indigenous round jerseys, and Beanies for Brain Cancer jerseys drop at RRP with narrow discount windows, and Fanatics AU runs its EOFY sale in late June with 15 to 25% off select last-season stock.

Finals week (September through early October) is not a discount moment for current-season jerseys. NRL Shop, Fanatics AU, and club team stores hold current-season pricing through the finals series because demand spikes and the league protects the RRP. The discount moment lands the second week of October, after Grand Final Sunday.

For a Grand Final hosting party, the correct sequence is: current-season replica from NRL Shop or the club team store by 27 September (Preliminary Finals week) if you want it for match day, last-season replica from Fanatics AU or eBay AU any time in September for value, and Grand Final commemorative from NRL Shop on the Monday after Preliminary Finals (28 September) if you want the exact 4 October 2026 match-day design.

Streaming stack: Nine, Kayo Sports, Foxtel, NRL.com Premium, Stan Sport

The NRL broadcast landscape in 2026 has five surfaces that a hosting household needs to understand. Only one is required for the Grand Final. The rest are for full-season fans or specific edge cases.

Nine and 9Now (free): Nine holds the free-to-air rights to selected NRL matches under the current NRL broadcast agreement, including both Preliminary Finals and the Grand Final. Coverage is live and in HD on Channel 9 nationally, streamed live in HD on 9Now (free with a 9Now account, email registration only). 9Now casts to Chromecast, AirPlay, and smart TVs (Samsung, LG, Hisense, TCL, Sony). For a Grand Final only household, 9Now is enough.

Kayo Sports (AUD 25 to 45 per month): Foxtel Group's sports streaming product carries every NRL match of every round in the Fox League call with reduced ad breaks. Kayo also carries the Fox League alternate commentary team, alternate camera angles (Fox Cam, Coach Cam), the SEN radio sync, and every match of every round replay-on-demand. Worth it for households already watching multiple codes through the year (NRL, AFL, cricket, motorsport, A-League) or fans who prefer the Fox League call over the Nine call. Annual cost across a March to October NRL season sits at AUD 200 to 360.

Foxtel (AUD 50 to 100 per month, iQ set-top box or Foxtel streaming): The premium linear subscription carries the same Fox League content Kayo does, in the same picture quality, on a proper set-top box with recording. Only makes sense for households already paying for Foxtel; there is no NRL specific reason to sign up.

NRL.com Premium (AUD 12 to 18 per month): The league's own subscription product. Carries on-demand replays, extended highlights, statistical overlays, NRL 360 podcast archives, and select classic matches, but does not carry the live Grand Final broadcast, which stays exclusive to Nine and Foxtel under the broadcast deal. Worth it for stat-heavy fans and history buffs, not for live-match viewing.

Stan Sport (AUD 15 to 20 per month): Carries Wallabies international rugby union, Six Nations, and Rugby Championship. Not an NRL product. Mentioned here because rugby-union crossover fans sometimes assume Stan Sport carries NRL by accident; it does not. Stan Sport is the answer for a Wallabies Test that overlaps with the NRL finals series, not for the Grand Final itself.

For a Grand Final hosting party, the practical answer is: cast 9Now from a phone or laptop to the biggest screen in the room, or open the 9Now app directly on the smart TV. That works free. Households already on Kayo will use the Fox League call by preference. Nobody signs up to Foxtel for Grand Final day alone.

Audio note: 2GB Continuous Call Team and Triple M rugby league carry the live radio call of the Grand Final free-to-air on AM and DAB+ and through the respective station apps. Some households prefer the Continuous Call over the TV commentary, run the TV muted with 2GB or Triple M on a Bluetooth speaker. That works with any of the video options above and costs nothing extra.

The full-year fan cost math

For a Newcastle household watching every match of the 2026 NRL season through the year, the streaming stack cost calculus works out roughly as follows:

• 9Now only: AUD 0. Covers the Grand Final and select Sunday matches. Misses most Friday and Saturday matches through the season.
• Kayo Sports for the full season (March through October, eight months): AUD 200 to 360 total. Covers every match, plus AFL, cricket, and motorsport as a bundle.
• Foxtel iQ for the full season: AUD 400 to 800 total. Same NRL coverage as Kayo plus Foxtel's linear channel bundle.
• NRL.com Premium for the full year: AUD 144 to 216 total. Covers on-demand replays and stats, no live broadcast.
• Kayo plus NRL.com Premium bundle: AUD 344 to 576 total. Every live match plus every stat overlay.

For a household committed to following the NRL as their primary code, Kayo Sports plus 9Now free covers 100% of live matches and is the cost-optimal answer. NRL.com Premium is a nice-to-have, not a requirement.

BBQ and outdoor cooking: spring window plus Bunnings

Grand Final Sunday is peak spring in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide, warm in Perth, and cooling in Hobart and Canberra. Outdoor cooking is on the table for most NRL heartland households, and BBQ retail runs its own September to October cycle.

Weber runs a spring launch across Bunnings, Barbeques Galore, and independent hardware stores through September into early October. The Baby Q (Q1200) and Q2200 portable models discount 10 to 20% off recommended retail during the 12 to 25 September window, typically bringing the Q1200 to AUD 260 to 320 and the Q2200 to AUD 380 to 450. These are the right units for a balcony, courtyard, or small backyard hosting six to eight people; larger crews want the Family Q (Q3200) at AUD 850 to 1,100 discounted.

Weber rarely discounts the flagship Genesis and Summit gas grills outside Black Friday. A Genesis EPX-335 or a Summit E-6 at 4 to 6 burners will run AUD 2,400 to 4,800 through September and October; the same units drop AUD 300 to 700 in late November. For a household committing to a permanent outdoor kitchen build, wait until Black Friday. For a Grand Final party this year, the Family Q is the right size-to-price ratio.

Beefeater (Australian-made) discounts less predictably, but Barbeques Galore runs a September campaign on Beefeater Signature 3000S and 4-burner units. Expect AUD 1,200 to 2,200 on the 4-burner Signature 3000S range. Beefeater's ceramic burner system is the differentiator versus Weber; the trade-off is heavier assembly and slightly less resale value.

Ziggy (Ziegler and Brown, locally designed, sold at independent hardware and Bunnings) sits between Weber and Beefeater on price. The Ziggy Portable and Turbo Elite ranges hit AUD 400 to 900 through September at Bunnings and Barbeques Galore.

For accessories, mid-September is also the correct week for tongs, thermometers, and grill covers at Bunnings. Bunnings runs a spring outdoor sale week (usually the second week of September) with 20 to 40% off Weber-branded and generic accessories. Buying the tongs the same day as the BBQ saves the second trip.

Beer and party staples: Dan Murphy's, BWS, Woolworths Liquor

Grand Final week is the single biggest beer-slab retail moment of the Australian spring, comfortably ahead of AFL Grand Final week on unit volume in Queensland and northern NSW because of the higher NRL market share in those states. The three big off-premise chains (Dan Murphy's, BWS, Woolworths Liquor) all discount, but not evenly.

Dan Murphy's typically leads on XXXX Gold, Great Northern Super Crisp, Carlton Draught, and Corona 24 pack cans during NRL Grand Final week. Their price-lock and lowest-liquor-price guarantee mean that if BWS or First Choice comes in cheaper on advertised price, Dan Murphy's will match on the day. Expect a slab of XXXX Gold cans at AUD 50 to 58 through 28 September to 4 October, versus the August baseline of AUD 55 to 63.

BWS (Beer Wine Spirits, the Endeavour Group's supermarket-attached chain) is the convenience play. Prices sit AUD 1 to 3 above Dan Murphy's on major slabs, but a BWS is attached to most Woolworths, so you are already there for chips and dips. BWS also carries a stronger craft slab range (Balter, Stone and Wood, 4 Pines, Little Creatures) in-store than the standard Dan Murphy's shelf.

Woolworths Liquor (the counter-service liquor sections inside select Woolworths supermarkets, primarily in Queensland and NT under the Endeavour Group licence) mirrors Dan Murphy's discount cycle on the core Great Northern, XXXX Gold, and Carlton Draught SKUs and is the pragmatic answer for a Brisbane, Townsville, or Darwin hosting household who wants the slab in the same trolley as the meat and buns.

First Choice Liquor (Coles Group) leads on multi-buy deals: 3-for-AUD-150 across a mixed slab range, or 2-for-AUD-100 on premium four packs. If you are stocking multiple types (a mid-strength XXXX Gold slab plus a craft Balter XPA slab plus a bottle of red for the household who does not drink beer), First Choice's bundle pricing typically undercuts buying each at Dan Murphy's separately.

On brand mix: for a party of 12 to 16 adults, plan two slabs across two styles. XXXX Gold or Great Northern Super Crisp covers the mid-strength drinkers (particularly the Queensland heartland), Carlton Draught covers the traditional-lager drinkers, and one four-pack of Balter XPA, Stone and Wood Pacific Ale, or 4 Pines Pale covers the two guests who insist on craft. That mix runs AUD 130 to 165 total in Grand Final week across Dan Murphy's and BWS, versus AUD 155 to 195 for the same order in August.

Chips, dips, and the Coles-versus-Woolworths week

Both Coles and Woolworths run finals-themed promotional cycles in the fortnight leading to Grand Final Sunday. The sharpest discounts land Tuesday to Thursday of Grand Final week, meaning 30 September to 2 October for the 2026 fixture.

Expected multi-buys, based on prior September and October pricing cycles at Coles and Woolworths:

• Smith's, Doritos, Kettle chips: 2 for AUD 6 on 150g to 200g packs (versus AUD 5 to 6 per pack full price).
• Red Rock Deli 150g: half price at AUD 2.50 to 3 (versus AUD 5 to 6 full).
• Chobani, Zoosh, Yumi's dips 200g: half price at AUD 2.50 to 3.50.
• Old El Paso taco kits, Mission wraps: 30 to 40% off multi-buy.
• Coles or Woolworths brand sausages, 500g to 1kg packs: 20 to 30% off.
• Bread rolls (6 to 12 pack): often free or half price on Coles Insider or Everyday Rewards specials.

The trap is buying the chips on Saturday 20 September for a Grand Final on Sunday 4 October. Chips go stale. Time the supermarket run for Tuesday 30 September or Wednesday 1 October, buy at the multi-buy prices, and everything holds for three days. Meat, cheese, and dips get bought on the Saturday.

Match tickets: Ticketek NRL Grand Final tiers

For the households considering going to Accor Stadium in person rather than hosting, Ticketek is the official ticketing partner for the NRL Grand Final and the only legitimate primary channel.

NRL Members priority window: NRL Members with a paid Membership (AUD 45 to 95 annual, purchased through nrl.com) get priority ticket access 24 to 48 hours ahead of the general public. For a Grand Final that typically sells out within hours of public release, becoming an NRL Member is the practical way to secure standard-tier tickets. Priority sale runs on the Sunday to Monday after Preliminary Finals (27 to 28 September for the 2026 fixture).

Grand Finalist Club Members priority: Members of the two clubs contesting the Grand Final get an additional priority window ahead of general NRL Members, typically opening on the evening of the second Preliminary Final (Saturday 26 September for 2026). Club Membership costs vary by club (AUD 100 to 400 annual for standard packages) but effectively guarantees access to standard reserved tickets in club-allocated bays.

Public sale: Opens Monday 28 September through Ticketek. Historical Grand Final ticket pricing sits at:

• General admission upper-tier seating: AUD 65 to 95
• Standard reserved lower-tier: AUD 130 to 210
• Premium reserved on the halfway line: AUD 300 to 550
• Corporate hospitality packages: AUD 800 to 2,500 per person

Secondary market: Viagogo, StubHub, and Tixel carry Grand Final tickets after primary sell-out, at 2 to 5x face value on standard reserved and 5 to 10x on premium reserved. Only Tixel is officially endorsed by the NRL as a resale partner; Viagogo and StubHub listings carry authenticity risk and no NRL-backed guarantee. If Grand Final ticket access is a priority, become an NRL Member and/or Club Member well before the finals series starts.

Getting to Accor Stadium: Sydney Metro and Sydney Trains run event services to Olympic Park station on Grand Final Sunday, with express services from Central. Parking at Olympic Park is limited and expensive on match day; train is the correct answer. Uber, DiDi, and Ola surcharge heavily around Accor Stadium in the two hours after kick-off, so plan the outbound trip to Central by train and only Uber home from Central if needed.

The 52-day hosting timeline

Publish date is 13 August 2026, so Grand Final Sunday is 52 days out. The optimal spending sequence:

Weeks 1 to 4 (13 August to 10 September): research and price-anchor. Screenshot current pricing on your target TV at JB Hi-Fi, Good Guys, and Harvey Norman. Note the sticker. Confirm the guest list and the room dimensions to lock in the correct TV size. Book delivery slot with Good Guys or Harvey Norman for the week of 21 September if you are getting install. Consider NRL Membership sign-up if match tickets are a possibility.

Week 5 (Saturday 12 September to Friday 25 September): the big-ticket weeks. Buy the TV. Buy the BBQ if you are upgrading. Both retail categories hit their September lows across this two-week window. Get the TV delivered and installed by 26 September; if there is a wall mount involved, install this window not later. Order the BBQ from Bunnings for click-and-collect or install and get it home the same weekend so you can season and test-cook before Grand Final Sunday. Buy any current-season NRL replica jerseys from NRL Shop or the club team store by 27 September to allow shipping.

Week 6 (Saturday 26 September to Wednesday 30 September): finals-week purchases. Order eBay AU scarves and caps by Sunday 27 September to allow shipping (most AU-based sellers ship in 3 to 5 days). Buy Grand Final commemorative jerseys from NRL Shop on Monday 28 September when they drop (they sell out fast). Enter Ticketek public sale on Monday 28 September if you want to try for match tickets. Grocery run for chips, dips, sausages, buns at Coles or Woolworths on Tuesday 30 September to hit the multi-buy prices without going stale.

Week 7 (Thursday 1 October to Sunday 4 October): perishables and last-minute. Slab run to Dan Murphy's, BWS, or Woolworths Liquor on Friday 2 or Saturday 3 October. Buy meat, cheese, and fresh dips Saturday 3 October morning at Coles or Woolworths. Ice, lemon and lime, tonic, soft drinks Sunday 4 October morning. Turn the BBQ on by 3pm, cast 9Now by 4pm gates coverage start, kick-off 7:30pm AEDT.

Regional adjustments

Sydney: The Grand Final is on your doorstep. Traffic around Sydney Olympic Park closes early on Grand Final Sunday, so if your hosting is in the inner west, north shore, or eastern suburbs, plan the grocery run before noon. Sydney has strong craft beer retail (Willie the Boatman, Grifter, Batch Brewing, Wayward) if you want to skip Dan Murphy's for the craft options.

Brisbane: The NRL heartland. Weather is warm enough for full outdoor viewing. Queensland liquor retail hours vary by council area; Dan Murphy's, BWS, and Woolworths Liquor open early on Sunday. XXXX Gold is the default slab in Brisbane and Coles-attached Liquorland and Woolworths Liquor discount it aggressively into Grand Final week.

Newcastle and Central Coast: Strong NRL supporter base (Knights, Roosters, Storm, and Panthers all have significant regional following). Weather is mild-to-warm. Amazon AU delivery to Newcastle and the Central Coast is standard-speed east coast, so any Amazon items order by 30 September is fine.

Melbourne: NRL market share is smaller than AFL but the Storm's Grand Final appearances drive significant Melbourne hosting demand. Weather is cool in early October and covered outdoor or indoor viewing is standard. Melbourne has the deepest craft beer retail nationally (Slowbeer, Blackhearts and Sparrows) if you want to skip Dan Murphy's for the craft options.

Perth: Bounce time in local Perth time is 4:30pm AWST (7:30pm AEDT). Perth NRL households host an evening match at earlier local time, which shifts BBQ and food timing forward. Amazon AU delivery to WA is slower than east coast, so order any Amazon items by 26 September at latest.

Adelaide, Hobart, Darwin, Canberra: Standard AEST or ACST viewing. Regional Coles and Woolworths run the same multi-buys as metro; regional Dan Murphy's, BWS, and Woolworths Liquor run the same slab discounts. Darwin runs on Woolworths Liquor for slabs (Dan Murphy's presence in the NT is limited to Darwin metro).

Where to start

The single highest-leverage decision this week is the TV. If you are hosting for the first time, or upgrading from a screen under 55 inch, the mid-to-late September window at JB Hi-Fi, Good Guys, and Harvey Norman is the specific moment to act. Screenshot your target on JB Hi-Fi now, plan the Harvey Norman visit for Saturday 13 September, and start earning cashback on the purchase.

The second decision is the jersey. If you already know who you support, order the current-season replica from NRL Shop or your club team store by 27 September. If you support one of the two grand finalists, watch NRL Shop on Monday 28 September for the commemorative Grand Final jersey drop and be ready to check out fast.

The third decision is the streaming stack. If you already have Kayo, you are done. If not, 9Now free-to-air covers the Grand Final at zero cost, and Kayo can be signed up for a single month in September if you want the full finals series in the Fox League call.

Everything else (BBQ, slabs, chips, dips, meat) follows the timeline above and stacks cashback on the grocery, liquor, and hardware categories through ShopBack.
