Shopping at Tmall, Alibaba's marketplace for registered brands and authorised distributors? Tmall's own site is Chinese-language and built for mainland buyers. Tmall and Taobao hold your payment in Alipay escrow until you confirm the parcel has arrived, and the merchant is only paid once that happens. ShopBack's Tmall terms therefore ask you to click Confirm Delivery when your order lands and state that Cashback appears in your history only after the order is confirmed as received. The timeline reflects this: tracking takes around five days and confirmation around 125 days, longer than most ShopBack merchants.

Tmall is business-to-consumer: registered companies and brand-authorised flagships only, with manufacturer warranty on many listings, though warranty service from Australia may mean shipping back to China. For branded goods, Tmall is the simpler path; for unbranded parts and niche items, Taobao usually wins on price.

AliExpress is Alibaba's international-first marketplace: English interface, Australian dollar pricing, local buyer protection and shipping built for overseas orders, with a catalogue that skews to Chinese sellers targeting export demand rather than brand flagships. Tmall is China-domestic first, with brand-owner flagships at mainland pricing and a cross-border layer bolted on through Taobao World, so you trade convenience for range and authorised stock. If you want a Xiaomi or Anta flagship at China pricing, Tmall; if you want the easiest checkout in AUD, AliExpress.

Tmall vouchers, Taobao Points, red envelopes, timed offers and new store promotions are Tmall's own discounts, applied in the platform at checkout. The current Cashback is shown on the Tmall page on ShopBack. Rates are set by each store.
