Kathmandu

Kathmandu is an outdoor clothing and equipment retailer founded in 1987 by Jan Cameron and headquartered in Christchurch, New Zealand, trading across Australia and New Zealand. The Australian site at kathmandu.com.au sells puffer and insulated jackets, rainwear, merino and fleece layers, UPF sun protection clothing, hiking pants and tops, footwear from its own range plus Oboz, Salomon, Keen, Teva, Asics, Adidas and Crocs, and camping equipment including tents, packs, sleeping bags and picnic accessories. Click through from the ShopBack Kathmandu merchant page before you order to earn Cashback at the current published rate.

Out There Rewards is Kathmandu's free loyalty programme, open to anyone aged 16 or over. Members earn one point for every dollar spent, receive birthday and reward vouchers, get member bonuses and deals. The practical perk is delivery: signed-in members get free standard shipping anywhere in Australia, while guests pay a flat $12 delivery fee. Shop signed in so the free delivery applies to the order ShopBack tracks.

As of 2 October 2026 the Kathmandu Australia site runs a permanent Sale section and an Outlet section, plus a Shop by Deal area with offers such as KMDMerino baselayers at $89 and two KMDAction baselayers for $100 on selected styles. For the rest of 2026 the Australian retail calendar gives you Black Friday on 27 November, Cyber Monday on 30 November and Boxing Day on 26 December.

Standard delivery is free Australia-wide for signed-in Out There Rewards members, while guests pay a flat delivery fee. Click & Collect is available on selected items at selected stores, with pickup timeframes shown at checkout. Kathmandu offers 60-day change-of-mind returns provided items are unused, in original packaging with tags attached, and you have proof of purchase; return in any Kathmandu store or by post.

Both are New Zealand-born outdoor brands with Australian stores, and both sit in the mid-tier technical bracket rather than the alpine specialist bracket. Kathmandu's Australian site leans broad: puffers, rainwear, merino, UPF sun protection, kids, footwear from several third-party brands, and a full camping range from tents to picnic gear. Its XT Series is the pick for multi-day hiking. If you want one checkout for family clothing plus camp kit, Kathmandu is the simpler basket. Open Kathmandu from the ShopBack Kathmandu page before you order and see the rate shown there.

Kathmandu sells mostly its own-brand clothing and equipment with a short list of partner footwear brands. Anaconda is a multi-brand camping and fishing superstore with a much wider equipment catalogue. Choose Kathmandu when you want a matched clothing system, sleeping bag and pack from one maker with 60-day change-of-mind returns and free member delivery. Choose a multi-brand store when the shopping list is dominated by hard goods like fridges, kayaks or fishing tackle that Kathmandu does not carry. Open Kathmandu from the ShopBack Kathmandu page before you order. For a deeper look, see Save on Outdoor & Camping Gear.

Shop on kathmandu.com.au rather than in the Kathmandu app. Start on the ShopBack Kathmandu merchant page (web or the ShopBack app) and let it open kathmandu.com.au, then sign in to your Out There Rewards account and check out there.

Yes. Kathmandu holds B Corp certification and reports that it was re-certified in 2023 with B Lab commending improvements to its impact score. For an Australian shopper this does not change pricing or delivery, but it is a verifiable point of difference when choosing between outdoor brands.

Go through ShopBack before you pay and the Cashback tracks to your ShopBack account. On your phone, open Kathmandu from the ShopBack app and finish the order there. The current published rate is on the ShopBack Kathmandu page. Cashback typically tracks within two days and confirms after about 80 days.

Kathmandu offers 60-day change-of-mind returns for unused items in original packaging with tags and proof of purchase, in store or by post. Cashback is based on what you keep: if you return or cancel part of an order, the Cashback adjusts to match. A warranty repair or replacement of a faulty product is not a refund, so the Cashback on the original order stays as it is.
