The verdict

ShopBack Australia is a free app and website that gives you cash back when you shop online at partner stores, including JB Hi-Fi, Myer and David Jones. Cash back lowers what you actually pay for an order. It comes back as cash, so it works like a discount on the price, not like points or miles. Join ShopBack Australia free before you start your Christmas list.

• Tech and audio: JB Hi-Fi runs dedicated brand pages for Sony, Bose, Sonos, Sennheiser, Beats, Ultimate Ears, DJI, Fitbit and Breville, among others.
• Menswear, fragrance and grooming: Myer and David Jones are Australia's two big national department store chains, and both run their own member programmes (Myer One and David Jones Rewards).
• Timing: Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November 2026, which leaves about three weeks before the Christmas post cut-offs.
• The step before you pay: open the store from ShopBack, then check out on the store's website.

Christmas gifts for men in Australia 2026: what to buy at JB Hi-Fi

JB Hi-Fi is usually the first stop for tech gifts for men in Australia, because it runs brand pages for most of the big audio, camera and smart home names. According to JB Hi-Fi's own site, those include Sony, Bose, Sonos, Sennheiser, Beats, Ultimate Ears, DJI, Philips Hue, Ring, Fitbit, Dyson and Breville.

JB Hi-Fi Perks, the store's own member programme. According to JB Hi-Fi, Perks members get a $10 welcome coupon when they join (valid for 28 days from issue), members-only sales and offers, early access to big sales, a birthday gift in their birthday month and member competitions, at the time of writing. If you are buying a big tech gift, joining before Black Friday is a sensible step.

Check the ShopBack exclusions before you choose a JB Hi-Fi gift. At the time of writing, the ShopBack JB Hi-Fi page lists these exclusions:

• Apple, PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox and Meta products
• Miele and Asko
• Trading cards, pre-paid cards and gift cards
• Pre-orders, Extra Care, JB Hi-Fi Extras and delivery services
• Products sold by third-party JB Hi-Fi Marketplace sellers
• Purchases in physical stores, by phone or web chat, and JB Hi-Fi Business or Education orders

So if the gift is a console or an iPhone, ShopBack will not apply at JB Hi-Fi. If it is a pair of Sony or Bose headphones, a Sonos speaker, a DJI drone or a Breville coffee machine, it usually will. Purchases are tracked in about 2 days and confirmed in about 90 days, according to the ShopBack JB Hi-Fi page. Go through the ShopBack JB Hi-Fi page before you pay.

Myer and David Jones: menswear, fragrance and grooming gifts

Myer and David Jones are the go-to stores for menswear, shoes, fragrance and grooming gifts, and both sell online across Australia. Each runs its own member programme, so it is worth joining the one you shop at most before December.

Myer One. Myer's member programme has run since 2004 and uses spend-based tiers, so the more you spend at Myer in a year, the higher your tier. Check Myer's own Myer One page for the current tier names and benefits before you join.

David Jones Rewards. David Jones's programme lets members choose to earn Qantas Points or David Jones Rewards Points, with tiered benefits based on annual spend, according to Qantas. Members who link a Qantas Frequent Flyer account earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases, and points land after 30 days. Gift cards, shipping, gift wrapping and personal shopping do not earn points, according to the Qantas David Jones partner terms. David Jones Rewards has been reported to have more than 2.4 million members.

What ShopBack excludes at each store, at the time of writing:

Myer (ShopBack page)	David Jones (ShopBack page)
Brand exclusions	CHANEL, Dior, Aesop, Hermès Beauty	CHANEL, DIOR, Christian Dior, Miele
App purchases	Not eligible	Not eligible
Gift cards	Not eligible	Not eligible, including gift card with purchase offers
Other	Myer One, member and staff discounts; bank partner awards	Other loyalty programmes unless stated
Tracked / confirmed	About 7 days / about 90 days	About 7 days / about 110 days

That means a fragrance from one of the excluded houses is better bought on price alone, while menswear, shoes, grooming tools and most other fragrance brands are usually eligible. Start from the ShopBack Myer page or the ShopBack David Jones page and complete the order on the store's website.

JB Hi-Fi vs Myer for Christmas gifts for men: which costs less?

For the same item, JB Hi-Fi and Myer prices are often close, so the decision usually comes down to category, delivery and terms rather than the store name. JB Hi-Fi is usually stronger on tech range, while Myer and David Jones are stronger on menswear, fragrance and gift-wrapped beauty sets.

When the same product is sold at more than one store, such as a pair of headphones or an electric shaver, compare like this:

1. Price on the day. Check the exact model number at each store.
2. Delivery. Add any shipping charge, or choose click and collect.
3. Member value. Count any welcome coupon or points you will actually use.
4. ShopBack eligibility. Check the store's ShopBack exclusions for that brand.
5. Effective price. Subtract what comes back through ShopBack.

Here is an illustrative example. A $300 pair of headphones is the same price at two stores. At store A, at an illustrative 1%, $3 comes back. At store B, at an illustrative 5%, $15 comes back, so the effective price is $285. Real rates change daily and differ between new and existing customers, so check the live rate on each store's ShopBack page before you buy.

Christmas gifts for men best deals in Australia 2026: when to buy

The best time to buy Christmas gifts for men in Australia is usually the Black Friday weekend, which starts on Friday 27 November in 2026. Many Australian stores run offers across that weekend and into Cyber Monday, and buying then leaves you three weeks of buffer before Christmas delivery cut-offs.

Australia Post Christmas 2026 cut-off dates (metro to metro), according to Australia Post:

Service	Route	Last day to send
Parcel Post	Within the same state	Tuesday 22 December 2026
Parcel Post	Most east coast interstate routes (NSW, ACT, Vic, Qld, SA)	Monday 21 December 2026
Parcel Post	From NSW, ACT, Vic or SA to WA	Friday 18 December 2026
Parcel Post	From NSW, ACT or Vic to NT	Wednesday 16 December 2026
Express Post	NSW, ACT, Vic, Qld, SA, Tas, to WA and within same state	Wednesday 23 December 2026
Express Post	NT and from WA	Tuesday 22 December 2026

These are the dates a parcel must be lodged, not the date you order. Stores need time to pick and pack, so aim to order at least a week before these dates, and allow longer for regional areas. If you miss the cut-off, click and collect or an experience gift still works.

JB Hi-Fi, Myer and David Jones Christmas gifts for men in Australia: a quick plan

The simplest plan is one list, three stores, one step before you pay.

1. Write the list with a budget per person. A smaller amount for mates and secret Santa, more for a partner or dad.
2. Join the store programmes you will use. JB Hi-Fi Perks for tech, Myer One or David Jones Rewards for menswear and fragrance.
3. Shortlist by category. Tech at JB Hi-Fi; clothing, fragrance and grooming at Myer or David Jones.
4. Check ShopBack exclusions. Skip ShopBack for excluded brands and buy those on price alone.
5. Buy on the Black Friday weekend if you can. It gives you time before the post cut-offs.
6. Before you pay for an online order, go through ShopBack first. Open the store from ShopBack Australia and finish checkout on the website in the same session.

Other Australian stores that sell popular gifts for men include The Iconic, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Big W and Amazon Australia, so compare there too when the same item is sold in several places.

How ShopBack fits into Christmas gift shopping

ShopBack is a post-purchase discount: go through it before you pay and the effective price drops. It is a step in the checkout routine, like checking for a promo code, not something you think about after the order.

How it works on ShopBack Australia:

1. Join ShopBack free and log in.
2. Search for JB Hi-Fi, Myer or David Jones and tap through from the store page.
3. Shop and pay on the store's website in the same session, without codes that are not listed on the ShopBack page.
4. The purchase shows as pending, then confirms after the store's return period.
5. Withdraw the cash once it is confirmed.

Because the money comes back as cash, it works like a discount on the gift, not like points that sit in an account. On a $500 Christmas shop at an illustrative 5%, $25 comes back, so the effective cost of your gifts is $475. Check the live rate on each store's ShopBack page, because rates change around Black Friday and Christmas.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best Christmas gifts for men in Australia?

The best Christmas gifts for men in Australia are things he will use every week: good headphones or a speaker, a smartwatch or fitness tracker, a quality piece of menswear or footwear, a fragrance or grooming kit, a coffee or kitchen upgrade, or an experience. JB Hi-Fi covers tech and audio, while Myer and David Jones cover menswear, fragrance and grooming. Before you pay for any online order, go through ShopBack Australia so part of the price comes back as cash.

What is a good Christmas gift for a man who has everything?

For a man who has everything, upgrade something he already uses daily rather than adding something new: better headphones, a premium version of his usual grooming kit, a leather wallet or belt, or an experience such as a tasting, a class or event tickets. Experiences also avoid Christmas delivery cut-offs because nothing has to be posted.

When is the last day to order Christmas gifts online in Australia in 2026?

According to Australia Post, Parcel Post items sent within the same state between metro areas should be lodged by Tuesday 22 December 2026, most interstate metro routes on the east coast by Monday 21 December, and parcels from the east coast to WA by Friday 18 December. Express Post metro cut-offs are Wednesday 23 December for most states and Tuesday 22 December for NT and from WA. Retailers dispatch their own orders, so check each store's Christmas delivery page and order a few days earlier.

Is JB Hi-Fi or Myer better for Christmas gifts for men?

JB Hi-Fi is usually the better pick for tech, audio, gaming and gadgets, while Myer is usually the better pick for menswear, fragrance, grooming and homewares. Compare the exact model or item at both on the day you buy, then go through the store's ShopBack page before you pay. Check the exclusions on each ShopBack page first, because some brands are not eligible.

Are Apple and gaming consoles eligible on ShopBack at JB Hi-Fi?

Not at the time of writing. The ShopBack JB Hi-Fi page lists Apple, PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox and Meta among its exclusions, along with gift cards, pre-orders, Marketplace sellers and in-store purchases. Headphones, speakers, smart home and kitchen brands are where going through ShopBack usually applies, so check the live terms before you buy.

When are the best Christmas gift deals for men in Australia?

The biggest pre-Christmas sale window in Australia is usually Black Friday, which falls on Friday 27 November in 2026, with many stores running offers across the following weekend and Cyber Monday. Buying then also gives you plenty of time before the delivery cut-offs. Boxing Day sales on 26 December are better for treating yourself than for gifts.

How much should I spend on a Christmas gift for my partner, dad or brother?

There is no right amount, but a simple plan is to set one budget per person before you browse: a smaller amount for a mate or secret Santa, a mid budget for a brother or dad, and your largest for a partner. Shopping to a set budget stops sale prices pulling you into spending more than you planned.

Can I use a JB Hi-Fi Perks coupon and ShopBack on the same order?

Check before you combine them. JB Hi-Fi Perks offers a welcome coupon when you join, according to JB Hi-Fi, but ShopBack terms usually exclude codes that are not listed on the ShopBack store page. Read the terms on the ShopBack JB Hi-Fi page and compare the coupon value with what comes back through ShopBack before you pay.

How does ShopBack lower the price of a Christmas gift?

ShopBack works like a post-purchase discount: go through it before you pay and the effective price drops. On a $200 order at an illustrative 5%, $10 comes back as cash, so the gift effectively costs $190. Rates change, so check the live rate on the store's ShopBack page before you buy.

Should I buy gifts in the store's app or on the website?

Use the website when you want ShopBack to track. At the time of writing, the ShopBack Myer and David Jones pages both exclude purchases made in the store's own app, so open the store from ShopBack and complete the order on the website in the same session.
