We mapped the click-through-to-confirmation flow for Australian travel retailers (Booking.com, Agoda, Qantas, Virgin Australia, Jetstar, Webjet, Wotif) and identified where the path differs from physical-retail cashback (rate structures by booking type, post-trip confirmation, multi-leg bookings). The verdict
Travel is one of the higher-paying cashback categories in Australia. Click through ShopBack to Booking.com, Agoda, Qantas, Virgin Australia, or Webjet, complete the booking in the same session, pay with an Australian rewards card. Travel cashback usually confirms after the trip is taken.
The mechanic is the same as any other cashback purchase: start at ShopBack Australia, click through to the airline, hotel chain, OTA, or activity platform, book in the same session. The two travel-specific things to know are (a) rates and terms vary by booking type. Hotels usually pay more than flights, packages sometimes have their own rate. Travel cashback works differently from fashion or electronics cashback in two ways:

Worked example. A planned Bali weekender via Booking.com.

What this actually means
For an Australian shopper who books a couple of trips a year (a Bali weekender, an interstate visit, a Europe holiday), travel cashback is one of the highest-leverage habits to install. A single Booking.com or Agoda hotel booking on an international trip can produce more cashback in absolute AUD than weeks of routine retail purchases combined, because the cart values are larger and the rates are typically higher.
The trade-off is patience. A booking made in January for a June trip stays as Pending until after June, and only becomes withdrawable once the partner store's claim window closes. A shopper who treats travel cashback as a near-term income stream will be frustrated; a shopper who treats it as a delayed-but-meaningful refund on already-planned travel will be ahead.
The cost of forgetting the click-through is also larger here than anywhere else. Travel cashback on a A$1,500 hotel stay at a meaningful rate is real money.
