App exclusive sale

Virgin listed savings of up to 25% on selected one way economy fares across Australia, visible only in its app. At the time of writing, the ShopBack Virgin Australia page says bookings made in the Virgin app are not eligible for the rebate, so compare the app fare with the website fare booked through ShopBack and pick the lower final cost.

Early bird and destination sales

Early bird sales release fares months before travel. Virgin's Europe early bird sale covered eligible Qatar Airways operated return economy flights to selected European destinations via Doha, for travel from 17 January to 14 March and 17 April to 8 June 2027, ending 30 October 2026. Fares from Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Gold Coast or Sydney to Bali and from Melbourne or Brisbane to Fiji were listed on sale until 11:59pm AEST 17 November 2026.

Regional resident fares

Velocity members in eligible postcodes can get discounted regional fares. According to Virgin, these apply to return Economy Choice and Flex bookings to Brisbane for Queensland residents, to Perth for Western Australia residents and to Adelaide for Northern Territory residents, for leisure travel only, and not with Lite fares or Reward Seats.

Fare type rules that change the real price

The cheapest headline fare is not always the cheapest trip. According to Virgin's domestic fare types page, Economy Lite includes 8kg of carry-on with checked baggage available to buy, while Economy Choice includes one 23kg checked bag and a standard seat selection. For bookings made on or after 15 September 2026, Virgin's change fee on Economy Choice fares is $120 plus any fare difference, and changes to Economy Lite fares are not permitted.
