Is There a Viator Promo Code for Tours in Bali or Japan in 2026?

Sometimes, but Viator promo codes are campaign-based, not permanent, and there is usually no code just for Bali or Japan. For Australians, the reliable way to pay less on the same Viator tour is to compare similar listings (Viator says it has over 300,000 experiences in 2,500 destinations), check codes shown on ShopBack, then go through ShopBack to Viator before you book.

ShopBack Australia is a free app and website that gives you cash back when you book or shop online at Australian and global stores, including Viator. Going through ShopBack gets you a cash rebate on the same order, at the same store. Join free at shopback.com.au/signup.

Viator promo code for tours in Bali or Japan

Viator does not usually run a standing promo code just for Bali or Japan. Its promotions, when they run, are usually set for a campaign, a period or a group of customers, and the terms decide which bookings they cover. So the useful question is not "where is the Bali code" but "how do I pay less for this exact tour".

Here is what you can rely on, with sources:

What	Figure	Source
Size of Viator's catalogue	Over 300,000 experiences in 2,500 destinations	Viator
Reviews on Viator	Over 1,000,000 reviews	Viator
Owner	Viator is part of Tripadvisor, which bought it in 2014	Tripadvisor company history
Bali Tourist Levy	IDR 150,000 per foreign visitor, paid separately from tours	Bali provincial government
ShopBack on Viator	Rebate is credited only for completed travel	ShopBack Viator page Terms

With that many listings, the same Bali sunrise trek or Japan day trip is often sold by several operators at different prices. Comparing three listings for the same experience can save as much as a one-off code, and it works every time you book.

Viator promo code Australia 2026: what to expect

Viator codes for Australians tend to fall into a few types. Treat this as a guide to what to look for, not a list of live offers:

• Campaign codes. Time-limited codes around big shopping or travel periods. They usually have an end date and a minimum spend.
• Newcomer or app offers. Offers aimed at a first booking or a first app booking, which may only apply to a new account.
• Featured codes on ShopBack. Codes shown on the ShopBack Viator page, which is the place to check first if you want the ShopBack rebate to track (more on that below).

Any code found on a random coupon site may be expired, single-use or limited to other countries. If a code fails at checkout, the most likely reason is that it has expired or does not cover that tour.

Viator discount: the booking order that lowers the price

When you book a trip online, the order is simple: pick your dates, compare flights and hotels, go through ShopBack to the booking site, then pay with a travel card. Tours fit into the same order once your dates are set:

1. Fix your dates first. Tour prices and availability change by day, so lock in your flights and hotel before you price tours. ShopBack Travel Planner helps you compare flights and hotels in one place.
2. Compare three listings. Search the experience, such as "Mount Batur sunrise trek" or "Mount Fuji day trip from Tokyo", and compare price, group size, pickup and what is included.
3. Go through ShopBack to Viator. Open the ShopBack Viator page and tap through, then book in the same session.
4. Pay with a travel card. A card with low or no foreign transaction fees can help if the tour is charged in a foreign currency, so check the currency shown at checkout.

Cashback lowers what you actually pay for an order. It comes back as cash, so it works like a discount on the price, not like points or miles.

A worked example, clearly illustrative: on a $200 Viator booking at an illustrative 4% rate, $8 comes back, so the effective price is $192. Check the live rate on the ShopBack Viator page before you book.

Viator voucher code vs Viator gift card

People often mix these up:

• A voucher code or promo code is a discount you type in at checkout.
• A gift card is stored value you pay with.

Both have rules for ShopBack. The ShopBack Viator page Terms at the time of writing say there is no rebate on buying gift cards or vouchers, or on redeeming them. So if you plan to pay with a Viator gift card, expect no ShopBack rebate on that part of the booking.

Can I claim ShopBack with a Viator discount code?

Only with codes featured on ShopBack. The Terms on the ShopBack Viator page at the time of writing say purchases made with vouchers or promo codes not featured on ShopBack are not eligible. In practice:

• Code shown on the ShopBack Viator page: you can use it and the rebate should still track.
• Code from somewhere else: the rebate may not track. Compare the code's dollar saving with the rebate on the same booking, and pick the one worth more.

Other rules from the same Terms worth knowing before you book a Bali or Japan tour:

• Bookings made in the Viator app are not eligible, so book in a browser after going through ShopBack.
• The rebate is credited only for eligible, completed travel, so it confirms after the tour date.
• No-shows, and changes that create a new booking ID, are not eligible.
• Virtual tours, theme park purchases and bookings tracked to the Viator Travel Agent Program are excluded.

These terms can change, so check the Terms section on the ShopBack Viator page before you book.

Viator official promotions and offers terms

When Viator runs its own promotion, the offer terms on Viator decide the rules: which experiences, which dates, the minimum spend, whether it is one use per customer, and the end date. Read three things before you book:

1. End date and time zone. A promo's end time may be set in a time zone other than Australian time, so check it.
2. Eligible experiences. Some offers exclude certain categories or operators.
3. Cancellation policy of the tour. This is set per listing. If your plans might move, a listing with a clear free cancellation window is often worth a few dollars more than a cheaper non-refundable one.

Tours in Bali on Viator

Bali tours that Australians commonly book include:

• Ubud day tours covering rice terraces, temples and the monkey forest
• Mount Batur sunrise treks
• Nusa Penida day trips by boat
• Balinese cooking classes and water sports packages

One cost to plan for besides tours: Bali charges foreign visitors a Tourist Levy of IDR 150,000, according to the Bali provincial government's Love Bali site. It is paid separately, not through Viator. Our Bali trip cost guide covers the rest of the budget.

Tours in Japan on Viator

Japan tours that Australians commonly book include:

• Mount Fuji day trips from Tokyo
• Kyoto temple and Arashiyama walks
• Tokyo food and night tours
• Nara and Osaka day trips

Japan's peak periods, such as cherry blossom season in spring and the autumn leaves, can fill small-group tours quickly, so book those dates early. Our 10-day Japan budget from Australia shows how tours fit into a full trip.

Viator, credit card rewards and paying with a travel card

Card points, frequent flyer earn and card travel credits are separate from both Viator and ShopBack. Going through ShopBack and then paying with your travel card usually keeps your card's normal earn on the booking. Check your card's terms for how it treats travel bookings and foreign currency charges, and check the merchant's terms on the ShopBack Viator page, because the ShopBack Terms at the time of writing exclude other loyalty programmes unless stated.

Tours and activities sites in the same category

Other tours and activities sites Australians use include Klook, GetYourGuide and KKday, along with local operators who sell direct. Our Klook vs Viator vs GetYourGuide guide compares their strengths.

Getting money back on Viator with ShopBack

ShopBack Australia lists Viator as a travel store. Going through ShopBack gets you a cash rebate on the same order, at the same store: same tour, same price on Viator, and part of it comes back to your ShopBack account as cash after your tour is completed. The live rate is shown on the ShopBack Viator page, which is the place to check before every booking because rates change.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Viator promo code for tours in Bali or Japan? Sometimes, but Viator promo codes are campaign-based rather than permanent, and there is usually no code reserved for one destination such as Bali or Japan. A reliable way for Australians to pay less on the same tour is to compare a few similar listings, check the codes shown on the ShopBack Viator page, then go through ShopBack to Viator before you book.

How do I get a Viator discount? Compare several operators for the same experience, since Viator lists over 300,000 experiences in 2,500 destinations according to Viator, so similar tours often have different prices. Then go through ShopBack to Viator before you book, so part of what you pay comes back as cash on the same booking.

Does Viator have voucher codes? Viator runs promotions from time to time, and their terms are set by Viator for each campaign. Codes found on random coupon sites are often expired or limited to certain users. Check the codes listed on the ShopBack Viator page and the terms of any Viator offer before you rely on it.

Can I claim ShopBack with a Viator discount code? Only with codes featured on ShopBack. The Terms on the ShopBack Viator page at the time of writing say purchases made with vouchers or promo codes not featured on ShopBack are not eligible. Using an outside code can mean the ShopBack rebate does not track, so compare the code's saving with the rebate before you choose.

Can I book Viator tours in the app and still use ShopBack? The Terms on the ShopBack Viator page at the time of writing say purchases made via the Viator app are not eligible. Go through ShopBack to Viator and complete the booking in the same browser session instead.

When does the ShopBack rebate on Viator get paid? According to the ShopBack Viator page, it is credited only for eligible and completed travel, so it confirms after your tour has happened. No-shows and booking changes that create a new booking ID are not eligible.

What Viator tours are popular in Bali? Common Bali bookings include Ubud day tours with rice terraces and temples, Mount Batur sunrise treks, Nusa Penida day trips and cooking classes. Remember that Bali charges foreign visitors a Tourist Levy of IDR 150,000, according to the Bali provincial government, which is separate from any tour price.

What Viator tours are popular in Japan? Common Japan bookings include Mount Fuji day trips from Tokyo, Kyoto temple and Arashiyama walks, Tokyo food tours and Nara day trips. Book popular dates early, because small-group tours in peak seasons such as cherry blossom season can sell out.

Can I use credit card rewards on Viator bookings? In most cases your card's own rewards still apply. Points or travel credits from your card are separate from Viator and from ShopBack, so paying with a travel card after going through ShopBack generally keeps both. Check your card's terms for how it treats travel bookings and foreign currency charges, and check the merchant's terms on the ShopBack Viator page.

Which other sites sell tours in Bali and Japan? Other tours and activities sites used by Australians include Klook, GetYourGuide and KKday, and many local operators also sell direct. Each has different listings and prices for the same kind of tour, so compare a few before you book.
